Very few people like to live their life according to
rules; most feel that they are capable enough to figure things out for
themselves and to make their own decisions, and this certainly applies
to dating and marriage. Being given rules as to whom you can date and
how you may go about doing so may make some people cringe.
However,
most also realize that in order to belong to a particular religion, any
religion, you must obey some rules and meet some requirements. This is
true when it comes to Mormon dating rules; there are things that are
and are not allowed when two people want to be in an approved state
within the Mormon Church and to date.
Mormon dating rules first
of all require that you date only another Mormon; this is not unusual
for many churches and religions. Dating someone outside your faith is
seen as a disloyalty; how important can your faith and beliefs be to
you if you decide to align yourself with someone who doesn't share
them? Chastity also plays a large part in Mormon dating rules. Their
church teaches that sexual relations are to be shared by a man and a
woman who are married to each other, and at no other time and with no
one else. This rules out all practices of fornication and adultery.
Mormon dating rules also touch on one's dress, actions, and even your
thoughts, which are to remain modest and chaste at all times.
Pornography is forbidden.
While Mormons do not practice arranged
marriages or other such things that some religions still do, they
encourage their members to take very seriously these Mormon dating
rules and to apply them to their own courtship.
