With the price of gas the way it is - I've started doing some "at home" dates which work out well - maybe not for a first date - but more of a 4th or 5th date. Do a picnic in your backyard - or set up a nice bbq on the deck. Its much more relaxed and casual and just as much fun if not more fun that driving in traffic, waiting in line at a restaurant - etc.

You dont have to try too hard to make it special. The dinner is set but afterwards you can put in a movie which is actually still romantic watching any movie while snuggling or play a game. i know it sounds juvenile but its a great way to let lose and it leads to other things that can still make a night romantic fun and not take things to far or if you want all the way.
